Family Nature Nights

The Education Committee of IWLA-PCC plans and executes Family Nature Nights for local schools of Duneland, Indiana.

The 2026-27 school year celebrates the 13th year PCC has been organizing these events. The program collects 12-15 presenters/partners such as Gabis Arboretum, Westchester History Museum, Field Museum's Insect Collection, Porter Co. 4-H and Humane Indiana Wildlife Center; just to name a few. Each partner provides an educational, live experience at their table with a rich environmental theme. Families of the hosting elementary school are invited to visit these during the one and one-half hour events annually.

Currently, we are serving an average of 200 visitors per school in up to 11 schools. Yearly, the program reaches over 2000 visitors and it takes 700+ hours of volunteer time to facilitate them.
